Star finds the best part of being a tattoo artist to be the personal dialogue that is cultivated between the artist and the client. He is known for putting in the extra effort to understand his client’s true feelings about the piece they envision getting.
“As a tattooist I feel the most important thing I can do for my clients is to listen and interpret what it is the client is feeling about the tattoo they want. Then I work to add that addition to their skin.”
Star has tattooed predominantly black and grey for 20+ years, on all parts of the body. He has experience in full back tattoos, as well as small delicate pieces. He is comfortable with head, finger, and hand tattoos, and has been tattooing at Bronze Eye since 2023.
“I feel that I am blessed to tattoo in a safe studio space. I believe that this gives me an opportunity to work with those who wouldn’t normally feel comfortable with other types of shop experiences. It not only includes the LGBT+ community, but my own Latino, Latina, and LatinX community.”
Star is a well rounded artist, skilled in watercolor, pastel, and acrylic. Skills he uses to translate ideas into beautiful tattoo art. This has helped him to naturally adapt from one style to the next, as well as becoming strong in traditional tattoo elements such as water, smoke, fire, and other touches. He loves doing bio-mechanical, watercolor, art-nouveau, and anything inspired by H.R. Giger or Tim Burton.
“Art is within me. I cannot remember a time when I didn’t feel the need to draw, paint, or tattoo. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else with my life.”
